WHAT THIS SITE KNOWS ABOUT YOU.

The short version: very little, and none of it goes anywhere.

The short version

  • No cookies.
  • No Google Analytics and no tracking script from anyone.
  • No data sold, rented or traded. Nobody is asking for it either.
  • Three things on this site take something from you, and all three are listed below.

When you fill in the contact form

It takes your name, your company, your email and your message. That goes straight to my inbox and nowhere else.

The delivery itself runs through a service called FormSubmit, which turns the form into an email, so they see the contents in transit. If you would rather skip that, my email and phone number are at the bottom of every page and both end up in the same place.

I keep the mail until the enquiry is finished. Ask me to delete it and I will.

When you measure your site

You type in a domain. The scanner fetches the front page of that domain exactly the way a search engine does, reads what comes back and works out the score. It only looks at what is already public.

The result is held for an hour so that two people at the same company checking the same domain do not cost their website two visits.

So that one person cannot run the scanner a thousand times, there is a counter against your IP address, twenty a day. What is stored is the count, not which domain you checked, and it clears itself after two days.

When you leave an email in the scanner

I keep the address and the domain you were checking, for six months, and use it to send you the measurement you asked for. Nothing else goes to that address.

Write to me any time and I will delete it sooner. It takes about a minute.

What your browser keeps

Two things, and neither is a cookie. Within one session the site remembers that you have seen the opening animation, so you do not have to sit through it every time you follow a link.

It clears the moment you close the tab. It does not follow you to other sites and it tells me nothing, because it never reaches me.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like every host, Cloudflare sees the requests that arrive, including the IP address, in order to serve the page and fend off attacks.

Your rights

You have the right to know what I hold about you, to have it corrected and to have it deleted. In practice that means you write to me and I answer, because I am one person with one inbox rather than a department.

If you are unhappy with how I handle it you can take it to the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, personuvernd.is.
