Two things read your website. Neither is a person.

Google has always read your site. Now the AI assistants read it too, and they answer people directly instead of handing over ten blue links. A site neither one understands is not badly designed, it is invisible.

The groundwork comes with every site I build. This is the work on top of it.

read who_reads()

They are not asking the same questions

Which is why doing one and hoping the other follows does not work. They want different things off the same page.

01

Google asks the old questions

Is there a title, a description, one heading, a sitemap, does it work on a phone and does it load quickly. This is dull and it is measurable, and it still decides whether you appear when somebody types your town and your service.

02

The AI asks what you are

It reads the page in order to answer a person who asked in plain language. It needs to know what kind of business this is, where it is, when it is open and what it sells, written so a machine can lift it out of the text. Beautiful copy saying "we offer a unique experience" answers none of those.

03

Neither one runs your site to the end

Both fetch the page as it comes off the network and read what is there immediately. Anything that only appears after the browser has worked through JavaScript effectively does not exist for them. That makes this a build question, not a marketing one.

What gets done

The same work every month, on a site I am hosting anyway. None of it asks anything of you.

01

Machine readable markup on every page

What kind of business, where it is, opening hours, prices and services, written in a format both Google and the AI read directly. It is the single biggest difference and none of it shows on screen.

02

Google Business Profile and the maps listing

Checked against the site so the hours, the phone number and the address say the same thing in both places. A mismatch there is the most common reason a business does not appear on the map.

03

Facts in the text, not only in the header

Opening hours, prices and location have to be in the text itself. A machine answering "when are you open" cannot read it out of an image or a PDF.

04

Measured again every month

The same measurement you can run yourself, run again monthly, and whatever has slipped gets fixed. A site that was fine in March is not automatically fine in September.

Measure, fix, measure again

Three steps, and the third is why this is a monthly plan rather than a job that finishes.

  1. 01

    Measure

You see the number yourself before anything is decided. It is free, it takes seconds and it does not ask for your email.

  2. 02

    Fix

I do what the measurement found. You do not get a report with a task list, you get the site fixed.

  3. 03

    Measure again

Next month the same measurement runs again. You see whether the number moved, and if it did not move you see that too.

What I promise and what I do not

This is the part of this service most people sell with claims nobody can stand behind. Here is what is true.

ready

  • The site made legible to both search engines and AI assistants
  • The measurement, the same tool you can run yourself, run monthly
  • Google Business Profile and the maps listing checked against the site
  • You see the number every month, including when it has not moved

Two things I do not promise. I do not promise a particular position on Google, because it is not mine to give and anyone promising it is either guessing or inventing. And I do not promise what an AI says about you, because nobody controls that, the answers are not the same twice and they depend on who is asking and from where. What can be worked on is making the site legible, and measuring whether it worked. The rest is sales talk.

Start by seeing your number.

The measurement is free and takes seconds. If the number is good you do not need me, and if it is not you know exactly what is wrong.
