When you fill in the contact form

The form collects your name, company, email and message and sends them to my inbox through a small service of my own on Cloudflare and the email provider Resend.

If you arrive through a tagged advertising link, source, campaign and ad labels may accompany your enquiry. They travel between pages in the URL without being saved in cookies or browser storage. This helps me identify which ad led to the enquiry.

The form goes first to a small service on Cloudflare that I run myself, and from there to email through Resend. Both see the contents in transit. If you would rather skip that, my email and phone number are at the bottom of every page and both end up in the same place.

I keep the mail until the enquiry is finished. Ask me to delete it and I will.

When you measure your site

You enter a domain or website address. The scan fetches up to 15 public pages, plus robots.txt and sitemaps, and calculates a score from the content it can read.

A result for a readable website is cached with its address for up to an hour so repeat scans can be answered without another crawl.

So that nobody can run the scan a thousand times, scans are limited to twenty a day per IP address. What is stored is the count, not which domain you checked, and it clears itself after two days.

Earlier email registrations from the scan

The scan no longer collects email addresses. If you previously registered for an additional measurement, your email and domain are retained for up to six months from registration and used only for the purpose you agreed to.

You can contact me at any time to request earlier deletion.

The Meta advertising pixel

When configured, Meta measurement helps assess advertising on Facebook and Instagram. It can set cookies after you consent.

It does not start until you press accept. Press decline, or answer nothing at all, and the site fetches nothing from Meta and no cookies are created. These are not empty words: the script is not in the page until you have consented.

With consent, Meta can receive page views and events such as a scan or enquiry. Message text and form fields are not explicitly included in those events. Meta can also receive the page URL, including a domain in a scan URL, and technical information through its own processing.

When the consent banner is active, you can change your choice using the Cookies control at the foot of the page. The choice is stored in your browser.

What your browser keeps

Local storage remembers your theme and consent choice until you change them or clear the browser. If consent cannot be stored there, a cookie may retain it for up to 180 days.

Session storage remembers whether you have seen the opening or closed a new-site notice, and clears when the session ends. These preferences control presentation and consent on this website.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like every host, Cloudflare sees the requests that arrive, including the IP address, in order to serve the page and fend off attacks.

Your rights

You have the right to know what I hold about you, to have it corrected and to have it deleted. In practice that means you write to me and I answer, because I am one person with one inbox rather than a department.
